I found the articles on audiences very enlightening, especially on how different genders view/read TV. Andrejevic discussed how women are “heard” in chatrooms, whereas they are silenced elsewhere. Jenkins’ work effectively distinguished how men and women read Star Trek and Seiter’s essay discussed the methodologies of interviewing ethnic populations/gender groups. I know that these articles were published some time ago (20 years and longer), but I think that they are limited in that they interview binary gender groups. I would like to see a more comprehensive survey that examines a non-binary population as well. I think this is a shortcoming of the surveys–this is not meant to be an accusation against the authors, just a thought.
