I really
enjoyed all three articles. I think that the pairing allowed me to see the
theory behind post feminism with McRobbie’s article and then a response/test of
her theory on toys and TV in the other journal entries. I really enjoyed Butler’s
take on Nicki Minaj and her ability to negotiate race. I thought that
Banet-Weiser’s analysis of the Flava toys was intriguing. However, from a
writing standpoint, I felt that Banet-Wesier’s and Butler’s organization of
data and commentary was odd/hard to follow. Butler claims that she will discuss
Nicki Minaj, and her abstract highlights that the article will focus on this star.
Banet-Wesier’s entry claims that an extensive discussion of Dora will be had.
In both articles it takes the authors to get to the very end to discuss these
two topics respectively. I want to know what people think about that. Did it
work for them? Or was it unclear like it was for me? (In any case, all three
articles were informative!)
