I am done with my five core posts, so I’ve been just regularly
jotting down (strictly unprofessional) reviews of things that brought me joy as
if Marie Kondo was in on the YouTube vlogger game—apologies in advance for yet
another post on my favorite TV/digital platform contents of the week.
But really, what about Stephen Colbert deciding to air all
the footages of Zoom connection mishap with Daniel Radcliffe wouldn’t bring you
joy? The realness of the whole thing alone is quite a spectacle. There’s no audience
audio tracks, with minimal production. Just pure unadulterated conversation
between two full-fledged adult men discussing the Jurassic Park Lego set. I especially
found much delight in watching Stephen's son saying to Stephen “Is it a recent
release?”, then Stephen proceeding to ask Daniel “Is it a recent release?”,
then Daniel going to his girlfriend “Is it a recent release?” and deciding to
turn the camera to the magnificent Lego construction he had already set up on
the table.
I am also including a clip from ABC’s Disney Family Singalong, because why not. Interesting self-reflection,
though: I found myself dramatically fluctuating between ends of the spectrum in
viewing habits, one day craving shows like Tiger
King but waking up the next day looking for shy but humbly talented British
bakers building gingerbread houses on GBBO
or Disney singalongs like this. I wonder if
this is some specific coping mechanism for coronavirus anxiety?
